MCTC FUSE
Rock For Design, poster design by Jade Bayonet member of the FUSE Art Direction team, was plastered all over the Twin Cities today! The PR team was proud to hang over 100 posters Uptown, Downtown, Northeast, St. Paul, Seward, South and of course on the MCTC campus. Everywhere we went we got compliments on the design, it stood out on bulletin boards, shop windows and the occasional telephone pole! Super excited for Rock For Design our benefit concert next Friday March 30th at Nick and Eddie!  Just confirmed today: there will be a silent auction at the concert featuring prints of FUSE designer’s original art. Come out to rock and go home with new art from the Twin Cities’ hippest new designers.

Spring Break Is Over…

Some of us went out of town, some out of the country and I bet a good number stayed right here to relax and catch up on a few things. Since the time is flying by this semester, here is a quick update on FUSE goings-on. Our 5 (or 10) pieces for mctcfuse.com were due last Monday, tomorrow we’re hanging posters for Rock For Design our benefit concert, oh and our 25 professional contacts list is due to be turned in Distribution; that means invites to our portfolio show are soon to follow. FUSE is a busy team!

Mondays are fun filled adventures in the design department at MCTC. Early in the day, before anyone is really awake, we learn how to get jobs. Then in the afternoon we all get back together to work on a huge group project called FUSE. What could be better?

Show ‘n Tell Show-Minnesota Debut Friday Feb 18, 8pm Amsterdam BarThis looks silly and awesome! Featuring local designers including members of Process Type Foundry, and poster/packaging/illustration studios Landland and Aesthetic Apparatus as well as local artist Michael Cina. This could be a great way to get some comedic insight into the TC Design Scene. Amsterdam has tasty little food items and good beer for those who imbibe. $5

Google Web Fonts

Its fun and easy to add a little typographic style to your website. Just a few lines of CSS and your site will be the talk of the town. http://www.google.com/webfonts#ChoosePlace:select

I just snuck into this site’s code and edited it to use “Stint Ultra Expanded” by Astigmatic, a Google Web font. It took all of 5 mins!

Okay, we’ve all had Type 1 class, we have our favorite fonts and we feel pretty good about our skills. But how can we stay tuned in and keep getting better at typography? This week’s focus will be type, in print and on the web. Type can ignite our designs, lets dig in.
